Griff in Brawl Stars: My 2026 Guide to Coins, Cashback, and Control

Griff Brawl Stars guide: master his coins, Cashback Super, gadgets, Star Powers, builds, and best modes for dominant control.

I’ve been running Griff on and off since his Jurassic Splash debut, and even in 2026 he still feels like one of the most honest controllers in Brawl Stars. He is the gift-shop proprietor of Starr Park, the boss of Colette and Edgar, and a brawler who literally throws money at his problems. If you missed the original challenge, don’t worry: you can still unlock him through Starr Road with Credits or sometimes pull him from Starr Drops. I like him because his kit rewards spacing, patience, and a little greed—exactly what a shopkeeper should.

Griff overview: the shopkeeper who fights with coins

Griff is an Epic controller. At Power 11, his baseline stats are 6,800 health and 9 x 560 damage, with a range of about 8.33 tiles. Those numbers can shift with balance changes, so treat them as a starting point rather than gospel. What matters more is his role: he controls space with wide coin waves, punishes clumps, and can suddenly delete a target with a well-placed Super.

Stat Value
Rarity Epic
Class Controller
Health at Power 11 6,800
Attack damage at Power 11 9 x 560
Range 8.33 tiles
Super charge 12 coins

Abilities breakdown

His main attack throws three waves of coins, with three coins in each wave. That is nine coins total per attack, which gives him strong poke and decent area denial. I love using Griff when enemies bunch up near a wall or objective because his attack can clip multiple targets without needing perfect aim.

His Super is the famous Cashback. Griff throws five banknotes in a cone. They pierce enemies and deal more damage the farther they travel. Then they return after reaching max range, dealing damage on the way back and passing through walls during the return trip. That wall-piercing return is huge. It lets me finish low-health enemies who think a wall will save them.

Gadgets

  • Piggy Bank: Griff deploys a time bomb shaped like a piggy bank. It deals 700 damage, knocks back enemies within 2.67 tiles, explodes after 2.5 seconds, and destroys walls. The cooldown is 16 seconds. I use it to peel assassins, break cover, or deny a choke point.

  • Coin Shower: His next Coin Toss shoots 33% more coins. The cooldown is 11 seconds. This is my pick when I need burst damage on an objective or a safe.

Star Powers

  • Keep the Change: This makes his coin toss unload about 25% faster. It feels great when I want to pressure a lane quickly or punish someone who steps too close.

  • Business Resilience: Griff heals up to 15% of his missing health every 2 seconds. The lower his health, the more value he gets. I take this in longer fights where sustain matters.

How I play Griff

I treat Griff like a mid-range wall. I don’t rush in first. I chip, I control, and I wait for someone to make a mistake. His reload speed is not amazing, so missing shots hurts. I try to aim where enemies are likely to walk, not where they are right now.

A few habits that work for me:

  • Maximize Super distance: Cashback deals more damage farther away. I step back before firing it, especially against tanks.

  • Use Super to recharge Super: The banknotes hit multiple times, so I look for groups or tanks. Hitting several enemies can give me another Super very quickly.

  • Save Piggy Bank for defense: It is excellent against Edgar, Kenji, or any assassin who jumps on me. The knockback and wall break can flip a fight.

  • Coin Shower before big damage: If I am attacking a Heist safe or a grouped team, I activate Coin Shower first and then unload.

Best game modes for Griff

Mode Why I like Griff here
Brawl Ball He controls lanes, stops carriers, and works in 3v3 or 5v5.
Heist His attack and Super chunk the safe, though Reload Speed gear helps.
Hot Zone Wide attacks and Super pressure make him a strong area controller.
Gem Grab Piggy Bank peels tanks, and Business Resilience keeps him alive.
Basket Brawl He has good pick and win rates when played patiently.

Synergy and gears

Griff has low reload speed and average health, so he needs teammates who cover his downtime. Frank and Hank protect him and set up his damage. Frank’s stun is especially nice because Griff can land a full Cashback. Finx boosts his main attack, Max speeds him up, and assassins like Kenji or Martis clean up targets that Griff has already softened.

For gears, I almost always run Reload Speed because 15% faster reload fixes his biggest weakness. Damage is my second choice; the 15% boost below 50% health wins close fights. If I am getting poked too often, I play safer and lean on Business Resilience rather than forcing damage trades.

Final thoughts

Griff is not the flashiest brawler in 2026, but he is reliable. He rewards good spacing, smart Super timing, and patient team play. If you like controlling space and turning coins into pressure, give him a real chance. He might not be the meta monster everyone talks about, but he is the kind of brawler I keep coming back to when I want a fair, flexible fight.
